These terms are an agreement between you and ComboMint (“we”, “us”) for playing the Yarnwake game (the “Game”). By downloading or playing the Game you accept them; if you do not agree, please do not use the Game. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law as a consumer.
1. Who can play
The Game is meant for players aged 13 and over. It asks your birth month and year the first time you open it. Players under 13 can play every stage but cannot use nicknames, leaderboards, friends, sign-in or purchases. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must accept these terms for you and is responsible for your use of the Game, including purchases.
2. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Game on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment. We may end it only as described in section 10. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or distribute the Game, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
3. Your account
- Creating it. If you are 13 or over, the Game creates an account for you on our server by itself, the first time it goes online. It has no name, and you are not shown on leaderboards or to friends, until you choose a nickname when you open the leaderboards. The account is kept on your device, and you can link it to Sign in with Apple or Google so you can recover it on another device.
- One device at a time. Signing in on another device moves your account there and signs the previous device out.
- Combining accounts. If you have been playing with an account that is not linked to Apple or Google, and on that device you sign in to another account you already have, the two are combined into the signed-in account. Coins you bought and still hold move across in full, together with up to 500 other coins; any other coins stay with the old account and are lost. Cats and items move across. Your progress comes from the signed-in account. If the combined balance would pass the coin limit, the coins that do not fit stay with the old account.
- Keeping it safe. Keep your device and sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it happens because of our fault.
- Losing it. If you lose access to an account that was not linked to Apple or Google — for example because your device is lost or reset — we may not be able to recover it, or its coins and items.
- Updates. You may need to update the Game to keep using its online features.
4. Nicknames and fair play
Choosing a nickname is optional. If you choose one, it appears on public leaderboards — you appear there and to friends only once you have one — and it must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, misleading, or impersonate anyone, including us. Nicknames are checked automatically for blocked words, and reviewed by a person when another player reports them. You agree not to:
- cheat, or use modified versions of the Game, bots, scripts or any tool that plays for you or changes its data;
- exploit bugs to gain coins, items or scores — please report them to us instead;
- attack, overload or try to get unauthorised access to our servers or other players’ accounts;
- harass other players, or misuse the report and support features;
- sell, buy or transfer accounts, coins or items outside the Game.
If you break these rules we may, in proportion to what happened, remove scores, remove coins or items gained unfairly, hide you from leaderboards, or suspend or close your account. The Game tells you when your account is suspended, and we tell you why when you ask us, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it. You can appeal any decision from Settings → Contact support — which works even while your account is suspended — and a person will review it. While an account is suspended, its online features, coins and items cannot be used.
5. Coins, lives and other virtual items
The Game has virtual items: coins, lives, cats and, from time to time, other items. You earn coins by playing — for example a reward for each new star, prizes for completing areas, daily puzzles and weekly hunts, and streak bonuses — and you can buy coins and lives with real money. Watching an optional ad can give you rewards such as an extra life or another try.
- What they are. Virtual items are licensed to you for use in the Game. They are not your property, have no cash value, and cannot be exchanged for money, sold, transferred or given to another player, except as the Game itself allows. They do not expire while your account exists and the Game is offered. The Game does not sell random or chance-based items; every purchase shows exactly what it gives.
- Your balance. Until you have an account, your coins are kept only on your device. Once you have one, your coin balance is kept on our server, and our server’s record is the one that counts. A balance can hold up to 999,999 coins: the Game will not offer you a pack that would take you past that limit, and if a purchase ever arrives when your balance is already higher than the Game knew, only what fits is added — contact us and we will put it right.
- Playing offline. You can spend coins while offline, up to 500 coins beyond what our server has confirmed. When the Game reconnects, those spends are checked against your balance and your device is updated to match our record; each spend is charged at the price the Game showed when you made it, or today’s price if that is lower. Rewards won offline are shown straight away but are final only once our server has checked them, and a reward tied to a particular day or week may not be paid if the Game has been offline for too long. Cats can be bought only with an account, while connected.
- Rewards. Each stage pays its star reward once per account: replaying a stage pays only for stars you did not have before. Area prizes, daily and weekly prizes, streak bonuses and perks are paid as the Game describes them. They are promotional, and we may change or end them. If we rework a stage, you keep the coins it already paid, and your score for it may be recalculated.
- Moving your device’s coins into your account. When your account is created — or, for players of earlier versions, the first time the device connects after our server started keeping coins — the balance on your device is moved into the account once: up to 5,000 coins plus every purchase we have a record of, and cats worth up to 8,000 coins. Coins above that are not moved. If you play on several devices, only the first device’s balance is moved.
- Lives are kept only on your device. They are not saved to your account and are not restored on a new device or after reinstalling. A bought refill is used the moment it is delivered, so the Game will not sell you one while your lives are full.
- Mistakes. If coins or items reach your account by mistake — for example through a bug, a price or reward shown wrongly, or a purchase credited twice — we may correct your balance. Our support team may also add coins to fix a problem or as a goodwill gesture; this is at our discretion and does not create a right to future compensation.
- Changes. We may change what things cost in coins for future purchases and rebalance rewards. We will not reduce the coins in your balance except as set out in sections 3, 4 and 6 and in this section.
- Deleting your account permanently removes its coins (including coins you bought), cats, items and progress. They cannot be restored or refunded.
6. Purchases and refunds
- Who sells. Purchases are sold by Apple through the App Store (or by Google through Google Play, when available) under their terms. Prices are shown in your local currency as set by the store, include any taxes the store collects, and can differ between countries. We may change prices; a change does not affect purchases already made.
- Delivery. Coins you buy are added to your account once our server has checked the purchase with the store. This needs an internet connection and an account, which the Game creates by itself the first time it goes online; you do not need a nickname. If the coins have not arrived, make sure you are connected and reopen the Game — it checks with the store for any purchase not yet delivered every time it starts — or use Restore purchases in the shop. If they still have not arrived, contact us from Settings → Contact support.
- Your devices. Coins and items belong to your Yarnwake account, not to your Apple or Google account. To use them on another device, sign in with the same Apple or Google account. Restore purchases does not bring back coins that were already delivered and used or lost with an account. Items bought on one platform may not be available on the other, and Family Sharing does not apply to coins or other consumable items.
- Refunds. Refunds are requested from and decided by the store (for Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com). Your right to cancel a purchase — for example the 14-day right in the EU and UK — is governed by the store’s terms and the law where you live. Coins are delivered immediately. Where the law gives you a right to a repair, replacement or refund because something you bought does not work as described, you keep it.
- When a purchase is reversed. If a purchase is refunded, revoked (for example through Family Sharing), cancelled or charged back through your bank, we remove the coins or items it gave. If you have already spent them, your coin balance may become negative; while it is negative you cannot spend coins, and coins you earn go towards it first. If the store reverses the refund, we give the coins or items back. Refunds that look like abuse may lead to the measures in section 4.
- Children. Purchases are charged to the store account on the device. Use your device’s parental controls, such as Apple’s Screen Time or Ask to Buy, to control purchases by children; with Ask to Buy, the item is delivered only once it is approved. Requests to refund unauthorised purchases go to the store.
7. Ads
The Game offers optional rewarded ads. Ads are provided by third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or for products they advertise. Rewards are given only for ads that are watched to the end, and only when an ad is available.
8. What you send us
You keep ownership of what you write, such as your nickname (if you choose one) and support messages. You give us permission to store and display your nickname in the Game and on its leaderboards, and to use your messages to answer you and to improve the Game. Support messages are 10 to 1,000 characters long, and you can have up to three open conversations at a time. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
9. Updates and availability
We update the Game regularly and may add, change or remove stages, features and content. We try to keep the Game available, but some features need an internet connection and there may be interruptions. If we decide to close the Game, we will stop selling coins straight away, tell you in the Game or on our website at least 60 days before it closes, and compensate you for unused coins you bought as the law requires.
10. Ending this agreement
You can stop playing at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other players. If you seriously broke these terms, unused coins and items are lost without refund, except where the law says otherwise. If we close your account for any other reason, we will compensate you for the unused coins you bought as the law requires. Sections 5, 6 and 10–13 continue to apply after the agreement ends.
11. Our content
The Game, its art, characters, music, levels, text and software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms give you no rights in them beyond the licence in section 2.
12. Our responsibility to you
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Israel: we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. You have legal rights if the Game, or something you bought, does not work as described; where the law requires, we will fix it, replace it, or give you back coins or a refund. If the Game damages your device because we did not use reasonable care, we will repair the damage or compensate you. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses.
Everywhere else, to the fullest extent the law allows, the Game is provided “as is”, we disclaim warranties not stated in these terms, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Israel have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, you may bring proceedings in its courts, and we may bring proceedings against you only there. Before going to court, please write to us — most problems can be solved quickly.
14. Apple App Store
If you downloaded the Game from the Apple App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we — not Apple — are solely responsible for the Game and its content.
- Your licence lets you use the Game on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. These terms cannot give you fewer rights than those rules.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Game.
- If the Game fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the Game, if any. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the Game.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the Game or your use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the Game fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer-protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If anyone claims that the Game or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the Game, such as your mobile data provider’s.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Founder cat pre-registration offer
Before the Game launches, people on our launch waitlist can earn an exclusive cat, the “Founder cat”, by inviting friends. This section is the whole of the offer.
- How to earn it. Invite 3 friends who each join the waitlist through your personal invite link and then confirm their own email address by tapping the link we send them. A friend counts once they have confirmed, not when they sign up. You can see your progress on the page your own confirmation link opens, and from the link in our welcome email.
- One per person. Each person can earn one Founder cat, however many friends they invite, and each friend counts once, for the first link they used.
- What does not count. Inviting yourself, including with a second email address; the same person or household signing up more than once; sign-ups we reasonably believe are from the same device or connection as yours; disposable or temporary email addresses; and sign-ups made automatically or in bulk, or that are paid for or traded. A friend who never confirms, and an inviter who has unsubscribed, do not count.
- Delivery. The Founder cat is delivered when the Game launches, on iOS and Android, as a redeem code sent to the email address you confirmed. To use it you need the Game and to follow the instructions in that email. Codes are for one account and cannot be transferred or sold.
- A thank-you for everyone else. Everyone else on the confirmed list receives a 200-coin thank-you code at launch, sent the same way and on the same terms. It is a gift: there is nothing to do to earn it.
- Abuse. We may refuse or cancel a reward, or discount sign-ups, when we reasonably believe these rules were not followed. You can ask us to review that decision at support@combomint.com.
- Ending the offer. We may end the offer after announcing it on our website. Rewards already earned before the end is announced will still be delivered.
- No cash value. The Founder cat is a virtual item under section 5: it has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money or anything else.
How we use the information involved (your invite code, who joined through it and the count) is explained in our Privacy Policy.
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the law, in the Game or in how we run it, or for security. We will tell you in the Game or on this page at least 30 days before a significant change takes effect. If you do not accept it, you can stop playing and delete your account; and if the change significantly reduces what coins you bought can do, we will compensate you for the unused ones as the law requires.
17. Contact
